Chuck Todd, editor in chief of National Journal’s daily political briefing “The Hotline,” joins NBC News March 12 as political director, on-air analyst and MSNBC.com columnist.

Mr. Todd succeeds Elizabeth Wilner. She resigned after four years as the NBC’s political director and editor of NBC News’s weekday political newsletter First Read.

“Chuck Todd is one of the most experienced political journalists in this country, and NBC has been the beneficiary of that on an informal basis through the years with his appearances on our programs,” said NBC News President Steve Capus.

Mr. Todd’s responsibilities include all aspects of NBC News’ political coverage, including contact with the campaigns and serving as the point person for political news and information. Mr. Todd remains Washington-based, but works Phil Alongi, NBC’s executive producer for specials and political programming; Naomi Karam, political desk senior editor; and Tammy Haddad, Washington VP for MSNBC.
