Lifetime is going sci-fi with a new series called “Blood Ties” that premieres March 11.
The series is based on the best-selling books by Tanya Huff. They feature Vicki Nelson, an ex-cop turned private investigator who during a stakeout discovers what seems to be a young man but is actually a 450-year-old vampire. He’s also the illegitimate son of Henry VIII.
They team up to solve cases that involve the supernatural.
Though science-fiction is often thought of as a male preserve, some shows, such as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” have garnered loyal female audiences.
The series stars Christina Cox, who appeared in “FX: The Series” and “The Chronicles of Riddick,” as Ms. Nelson. Henry, her vampire sidekick, is played by Kyle Schmid.
Appearing as Ms. Nelson’s ex-partner is Dylan Neal, who had a recurring role in “Jag.”
The series is produced by Insight Film Studios Ltd. and Kaleidoscope Entertainment Inc. for Lifetime Television. It is also produced and developed in association with CHUM Television. Randy Zalken, Kirk Shaw, Marshall Kesten and Peter Mohan are executive producers.
