Comcast, the biggest U.S. cable television provider, is adding to its HD video-on-demand library this week with the launch of Showtime On Demand in HD.
The launch is timed to a sneak preview of the network’s new historical drama “The Tudors,” which will be made available on VOD before the series’ April 1 premiere.
The Showtime On Demand in HD library will also include select episodes of “Weeds” and “Dexter,” along with films “An Inconvenient Truth,” “The Longest Yard,” “Capote,” “The Pink Panther” and “Saw II.”
“We’re very excited to be launching Showtime On Demand in HD,” said Page Thompson, senior vice president and general manager, video products, at Comcast. “And we couldn’t think of a better way to kick it off than with a show that is tailor-made for high-definition television like “The Tudors.”
