Dishing on Diners

Mar 21, 2007  •  Post A Comment

Fine food is all well and good, but sometimes you just crave a good old diner.
In “Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives,” host Guy Fieri hits the road in a ’67 Camaro convertible in search of dives, greasy spoons and even places where new owners have upgraded their menus for a new generation.
The show launches April 23.
Mr. Fieri, the winner of Food Network’s “The Next Food Network Star 2” and host of “Guy’s Big Bite,” is moving to prime time with the series. He owns four restaurants in Northern California and is the father of two.
“Guy has a larger-than-life personality, and we wanted to give him a show that would allow him to interact with a wide variety of people,” said Bob Tuschman, senior VP, programming and production, Food Network. “We think he will bring out the appreciation for food and Americana that we all have.”
On the show, Mr. Fieri visits eateries such as the Frosted Mug Drive-In, an authentic drive-in outside Chicago with carhops that’s famous for its homemade root beer, and Mo Gridder’s BBQ, a dive in the Bronx that can give your car a tuneup at its auto body shop and feed you slabs of ribs while you wait.

  1. I was first tuned into Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on a trip to Portland for my birthday. I love greasy spoons so we made our way over to the Byways Cafe (yummy yummy). From then I was hooked, we’ve been on a couple trips so far like Utah and Chicago which was awesome! Plan on hitting up a few more soon.
