Online video service Next New Networks said it plans to launch more than 100 so-called micro-networks on the Internet in the next five years.

The company will roll out about three networks each month starting with a lineup of six networks, Next New said in a statement Thursday. The first set of offerings includes a channel for cartoons, an automotive channel, and a comic book channel.

The shows will be featured on YouTube and iTunes. Episodes will range from three to eight minutes and will run daily or weekly.

Former MTV executive Herb Scannell is co-founder and CEO of Next New.

Next New also announced that Saban Capital Group and Benchmark Capital Europe are investing in the company along with existing investor Spark Capital.
