Nexxus Backs ‘Shear Genius’

Bravo’s new competition show “Shear Genius” will be sponsored by Nexxus Salon Hair Care. Allure magazine also has joined as publishing partner, sharing editorial expertise and marketing assets.

Nexxus will be integrated into the series both on-air and online. Nexxus will provide a judge for the show, plus a $100,000 prize for the winner. On the Web, Nexxus will sponsor voting and text-messaging features.

“Shear Genius” is scheduled to air for eight episodes in the spring, Bravo said Monday. Jaclyn Smith will be the host. Hairstylist Sally Hershberger and Michael Carl, fashion editor of Allure, also will be judges.

Bravo is hoping the show follows in the footsteps of “Project Runway” and “Top Chef” in terms of ratings and sponsorship.
