Star Jones, former host of “The View” and red carpet correspondent for E!, is joining Court TV as host of a daytime talk show.

Ms. Jones, an ex-prosecutor who began her television career at Court TV in 1991 as a legal commentator, will also serve as executive editor for the program. which will look at crime and justice stories in the news and pop culture. Ms. Jones left ABC’s “The View” this summer in a blaze of publicity.

The network expects the show to premiere later this year.

“The public is fascinated by the intersection of the legal world and the pop-culture world, and we hope to tap into that fascination as part of our overall strategy to broaden the appeal of the network’s daytime line-up,” said Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks, who oversees Court TV.

“My goal is to inform, empower, educate and entertain viewers. And Court TV is the perfect place to accomplish that mission,” Ms. Jones said in a statement Wednesday.
