Warner Bros. Moving Int’l Format Unit to Paris

Warner Bros. executives quickly rebuked reports out of London on Friday that the company had shut down its international format unit nearly four years after it opened.

“We are moving the division to Paris, other than that its business as usual,” said a spokesperson for the studio.

The erroneous story came as a shock to a number of executives around the industry, who noted that Warner Bros. had so far been extremely successful in its formatting endeavors.

The company recently announced that it was offering international producers and broadcasters formats of two of the studio’s hit series, “Without a Trace” and “Cold Case.” That move marks the first time the studio has offered international format rights to programs currently being produced for broadcast domestically. The studio has previously adapted older series, such as “Full House,” from its library.
