Fox Cable Networks today announced the appointment of Michael Hopkins as executive VP and general manager of affiliate sales and marketing. Mr. Hopkins replaces Lindsay Gardner, who resigned to join Mediatech Capital Partners; he becomes director of global media development at the end of April.

Mr. Hopkins, who will oversee all distribution activities across Fox Cable Networks, will be working closely with senior VPs Michael Biard, Sean Riley and Todd Schoen. He will report to Tony Vinciquerra, president and CEO of FCN.

Mr. Hopkins started his career with FCN 10 years ago as director of affiliate sales, representing FX and Fox Movie Channel. He then moved on to become director of affiliate sales for FSN West and FSN West 2. In 1999 he joined the national accounts team as VP of affiliate sales, becoming senior VP four years later. He most recently was executive VP of affiliate sales and marketing.

Mr. Hopkins received his master’s degree in business administration from the Anderson School of Business at UCLA in 2001 and earned his bachelor’s in business administration from Long Beach State University in 1990. He and his wife live with their daughter in Los Angeles, where Mr. Hopkins will remain based at Fox Cable Networks’ headquarters on the Fox studio production lot.
