Turner Entertainment Networks named Michael Wright senior VP of a new content creation group for TNT, TBS and TCM.

Mr. Wright, who had been senior VP of original programming for TNT and TBS, will now be responsible for all original programming on the three networks, plus original content for their digital extensions. He reports to Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks, who recently added TCM to his domain after Tom Karsch left the company.

“Through his abundant creativity and his talent for forming valuable partnerships with top names in the industry, Michael has become the driving force behind TBS and TNT’s success when it comes to original programming,” Mr. Koonin said in a statement Tuesday.

“I am confident that his added responsibilities for Turner Classic Movies and programming for our digital extensions as head of the Content Creation Group will continue to result in top-rated, award-winning projects that deliver on the brand promises of each network.”

For TCM, Mr. Wright will oversee the creating of documentaries and specials. Day-to-day operation of the TCM original programming team will continue to be handled by Tom Brown, who now reports to Mr. Wright.
