A consortium of the nation’s largest cable operators have joined together to donate at least $12 million in advertising time to help the city of New Orleans promote tourism to the area.
The group includes cable interconnect Adlink along with operators Bresnan, Bright House Networks, Cable ONE, Cablevision, Charter Communications, Comcast, Cox Communications, Insight Communications, Mediacom, Suddenlink and Time Warner Cable. Cox provides cable service in New Orleans.
The cable companies will run spots developed by the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation & Tourism and the New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corp. The spots feature celebrities connected to New Orleans such as Wynton Marsalis, Emeril Lagasse and Dan Aykroyd.
The New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation said its research suggests that more than $12 million in advertising time will yield more than $1.3 billion in visitor spending.

  3. The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
