Jimmy Hall, recently named host of this year’s “Shark Week” on Discovery Channel, was killed Wednesday filming a documentary north of the Arctic Circle.
Mr. Hall, 41, died while base jumping from mountains in a remote area near Sam Fjord on Baffin Island in Canada.
He was recently chosen as host for Shark Week this summer and had completed part of a special in the Bahamas. He was scheduled to go to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef to swim with Great White Sharks for the network.
Mr. Hall spent most of his life on the North Shore of Oahu, but traveled all over the world pursuing adventures. He appeared on NBC’s “Today Show,” CNN, “Inside Edition” and other programs.
