Fox Tops Tuesday With ‘Idol,’ ‘House’

On the first Tuesday of the May sweeps, Fox was the victor thanks to “American Idol” and “House.”
“Idol” scored a 9.7 rating among adults 18 to 49, according to preliminary Nielsens, while “House” retained 92 percent of its “Idol” lead-in to earn an 8.9. Fox also easily won the night in total households.
At a distant second place, CBS had originals of “NCIS” (3.1) and “The Unit” (2.9).
ABC had on-par episodes of “George Lopez” (1.7), the “Dancing With the Stars” results show (4.0) and “Boston Legal” (2.5).
NBC aired “Dateline” (1.5), “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” (2.2) and “Law & Order: SVU,” which won its hour with a 4.0.
The CW aired “Gilmore Girls” (1.8) and “Veronica Mars” (1.1).
