Starz Launching Three HD Nets

May 6, 2007  •  Post A Comment

Premium cable movie network Starz plans to launch three HD spinoff channels by the end of the summer.
The new channels will include HD feeds of Starz Comedy, Starz Edge and Starz Kids & Family, all of which are now standard-definition channels in the Starz package.
Starz—along with rivals HBO, Cinemax and Showtime—already has an HD version of its main channel. The trio of new channels would give Starz more HD movie channels than any of its competitors.
“Starz has always been a leader in terms of offering our customers more ways to enjoy our great movies,” said Bill Myers, Starz president and chief operating officer. “We pioneered in digital transmission, multiplex, on-demand and online. We will now be able to offer the largest package of HD movie channels of any widely distributed programming service, and the only one featuring first-run hit movies.”
Upcoming Starz HD titles include “Cars,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” and “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.”
