Turner Names Snyder Animation Executive VP, COO

May 2, 2007  •  Post A Comment

Turner Broadcasting named Stuart Snyder as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Animation, Young Adults and Kids Media, assuming many of the responsibilities of Jim Samples, the former head of Cartoon Network, who left the company earlier this year after a promotional stunt turned into a costly fiasco in Boston.
Mr. Snyder had been senior VP and general manager of GameTap, Turner’s online video game company. He will continue to oversee that, as well as Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Adult Swim, associated Web sites, Super Deluxe and animation studios in Los Angeles and Atlanta.
“Building a new operating structure around our company’s animation and digital entertainment assets and positioning Stu at its head signals the opportunity we see among kids and young adults, and our intention to more aggressively play in that marketplace,” Mark Lazarus, president of Turner Entertainment Group, said in a statement Wednesday. “Stu is a builder with a great track record for defining and programming to targeted audiences. In Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and now GameTap and Super Deluxe, he and his team have brands and platforms to leverage in creative, strategic new ways.”
Mr. Snyder will be based in Atlanta and report to Mr. Lazarus.
