Emerging Media Forecast to Grow 30%

Ad spending on emerging media is expected to grow about 30 percent in 2007 and 2008, according to a new report from Magna Global.
Spending on such media as search, emerging out-of-home, social networking, online video and rich media, advanced TV, mobile marketing and gaming is expected to hit $11.5 billion, up 31.7 percent in 2007 and $14.7 billion, up 28 percent in 2008.
Video-on-demand is expected to generate $85 million of the $140 million spent on advanced TV advertising in 2007. In 2008, VOD will account for 105 million of advanced TV’s $178 million in spending.
Online video will grow by more than 50 percent to $366 million in 2007 and $560 million in 2008. But even at those levels, it will account for less than 1 percent of all TV spending.
