Quick Takes: Did NBC make the right move replacing Reilly?

Jun 4, 2007  •  Post A Comment

“NBC’s problems are beyond the scope of any one man. When Grant Tinker was in charge, the key word at NBC was patience. It paid off against all odds. Giving Reilly a quick hook only two weeks after the upfronts, shortly after giving him a contract renewal, suggests the powers at the Peacock have no patience today.”
Steve Beverly, professor of broadcasting, Union University, Jackson, Tenn.
“I think the world of Kevin Reilly. He has great taste and stands up for what he believes in. But I doubt his latest prime-time schedule will get NBC out of fourth place. Ben Silverman has a discerning eye and will, I suspect, come up with new ways to squeeze more money out of the programming the network has.”
