Steve Wilkos Travels to Tout Talker

Jun 24, 2007  •  Post A Comment

The producers of NBC Universal’s new fall strip “The Steve Wilkos Show” have pinned down the set, enlisted a veteran “Jerry Springer” director and scheduled a nationwide tour — with, appropriately enough, Headblade head-shaving products sponsoring the promotion for the show’s chrome-domed host.
Ahead of the series’ September debut, Mr. Wilkos, a onetime cop, Marine and head of security for “The Jerry Springer Show,” will be meeting with affiliates and fans beginning July 9 in New York City, with the goal of eventually hitting 20 markets. As they tour the cities, NBCU producers and executives will be cutting custom promos for the series at local affiliates as well as picking up ideas for future episodes.
“The Steve Wilkos Show” is the only major daytime talk strip scheduled to debut this fall. Other new series set to hit stations include Warner Bros.’ newsmagazine “TMZ,” Sony Pictures Television’s court show “Judge David Young” and game show strips “Temptation” from Twentieth Television and “Merv Griffin’s Crosswords” from Program Partners.
“One of the things we’re trying to accomplish is that if an affiliate or a viewer has a problem in that city and they think Steve can help out, they can just pick up the phone and we’ll be there,” said Richard Dominick, executive producer for the talk show. “Our series does not have to take place on the set every single day, and we are more than willing to go to that market to help a viewer out.”
NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution is teaming with Headblade, maker of Headblade razors, and the nonprofit St. Baldrick’s Foundation for the summer promotion. As part of the tour, Mr. Wilkos will help draw attention to the fight against children’s cancer with the help of the foundation.
“We wanted to get Steve out there and get him to as many markets as we could,” said Tracie Wilson, NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution senior VP of programming. “We are thrilled that he is both willing and ready to get on the road to do this.”
Now cleared in more than 90 percent of the country, the series will take a more serious tone than sister strip “Springer,” focusing on Mr. Wilkos often physically resolving guests’ problems rather than playing up a circus-like atmosphere.
Producers hired “Springer” director Greg Klazura and are building a set designed to look urban rather than homey. The background is being built to make the show look as though it’s taking place under a bridge.
“It’s a tough show with hard problems — we didn’t want it to look like a living room,” Mr. Dominick said. “Having been an ex-Marine, an ex-policeman and a brand-new father, Steve is not pre-programmed with psychobabble and he knows that you can’t change anybody’s life in an hour.”

  1. hi,
my husband blogs quite a bit and your producer sent an email asking to help with getting the child support that I should have gotten from my ex-husband. Your producer said this could be done as long as my ex would come to Chicago. The man won’t even pay his child support, has not seen his 3 children in 14 year’s, by his choice. While I appricate the fact that your show wishes to help, the fact remains that my ex will never travel to be confronted for being a deadbeat, I can’t even get him into court. Please understand that this is extremely hard on our family this isn’t a Jerry Springer type of family.
    Thank you anyway

  2. Message for STEVE WILKOS. Dear Steve, I saw today’s show (Devil Mom) I cried through the whole thing. All I can say (and I say it each day because I make a point of watching your show every day) is thank God for you, for your help, for your concern, for your goodness. The world could use a billion more Steve Wilkos’s. I hope your message reaches more people than not and they start to wake up! All blessings and love to you and your family, Steve. Dianna, John & Erika (11) Rossi

  3. i enjoy watching your tv show and i have email your show several times.when you get time please look over the documents carefullf.

  4. I have grown tired of Steve asking people who need help to go on his show and then all he does is belittle them. I think his years as a cop have jaded him. He has no understanding of the disease of addiction. Of course these people do awful things to their children and chose drugs over the their children. Can you say a-d-d-i-c-t-i-o-n !!!!!They have been beat-up enough in life. THEY NEED YOUR HELP WHEN THEY ASK FOR IT – NOT TO BE CONSTANTLY BELITTED ON STAGE. I HOPE THEY CANCEL YOUR SHOW SOON – IT IS A WASTE OF AIR TIME. Steve you need to come down off of your high horse and take a look at what life is like for those on the other side of the tracks.

  5. STEVE I THINK JUST A VERY FRUSTRATED MAN WHY DONT YOU INVITE ME ON YOUR SHOW SO I COULD PUNCH YOU WHERE YOU NEED TO BE PUNCHED IN YOUR MOUTH WHITE BOY

  8. WHAT A GREAT SHOW,,I TAPE IT EVERY NIGHT SO WE DON’T MISS IT…I EVEN ALLOW MY 11 YEAR OLD SON TO WATCH IT.IT IS REAL LIFE SITUATIONS. I TEACH MY SON NOT TO MAKE FUN OF KIDS THAT MIGHT BE LESS FORTUNATE THAN HIM,HAVE DIRTY OR TORN CLOTHES BECAUSE HE DOES NOT KNOW WHAT GOES ON IN THESE CHILDRENS HOMES.STEVES SHOW IS A REALITY CHECK FOR THOSE PEOPLE WHO NEED TO KNOW WHAT REALLY HAPPENS TO PEOPLE IN LIFE.THE PEOPLE WHO THINK BAD OF STEVE ARE PROBABLY THE ONES THAT TURN THEIR HEADS WHEN CHILDREN ARE BEING ABUSED OR PEOPLE ARE BEING CRUEL TO OTHER PEOPLE.

  9. I watched the show about the mother acuused of putting needles in her daughter’s ear. You had this couple on your show, but you didn’t even allow them to give an explanation. I’m a nurse who has worked in the hospital behind sloppy nurses and know that there are incidents of needles being left in the patient’s bed. And if you would have listened to your guest, which you never do, you would have heard him say that his daughter had a trach. It’s very possible that the daughter could have put the needle into her trach and also into her ears. Of course the hospital isn’t going to admit to that possibility. I refuse to believe that someone did this to thier child at 2 different hospitals, especially when she could have used so many other means of poisioning. The explanation that the husband gave is much more believable to me as a nurse. My husband and I have had to remove everything from buttons to paper from my 2 yr olds ears and nose. It’s just far fetch that she would leave needles that would be found and surely point the finger at her. Mother’s with the condition you mentioned don’t want to get caught, they want attention from thier child’s illness. These mother’s are very clever. And we all know that lie detector test aren’t always right.
In the future Steve, please give your guest a chance to talk instead of just yelling at them. I had so much respect for you when you were on the Jerry show. You can’t help people if you are always yelling and I think you have alot of wisdom to give. Just calm down and relax. Most days, I can’t watch your show; not because of the content of your show, but because of all the yelling.

  10. Hi Steve, my name is Cindy and I am writing this letter to tell you how much I love your show, I have been watching it since you started. I wanted to say it is so nice to have some one have people on there show to be able to tell off. You know people don’t like to hear the truth because it hurts so much, they would prefer to walk away from it then to hear it. I believe tough love is the only way to go with folks now days. I hope you read my mail on your show, yes because I would love to advertise you all over Oregon, to let people know all about you.
    Sincerely Yours,
    Cindy Hollenbeak

  11. HELLO STEVE,
MY MOM AND I LOVE YOUR SHOW. YOU CERTAINLY SHOW GOOD EXAMPLES OF EVERYDAY SITUATIONS. LET PEOPLE THINK WHAT THEY WANT, YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB AND CLEANING HOUSE AS USUAL. THERE IS ONE THING I HAVE NOTICED ABOUT YOU IS THAT YOU LOVE WEARING STRIPED SHIRTS, WELL ROCK ON PARTNER AND KEEP DOING A WONDERFUL DISPLAY OF THINGS.
MY NAME IS MICHAEL MASCARENHAS 34, LIVE IN NEW JERSEY, I HOPE YOU GUYS GET THIS MESSAGE AND I E MAILED ONCE BEFORE, IF YOU GUYS FIND MY FIRST E MAIL, PLEASE GIVE IT TO STEVE WILKOS TO READ ON T.V ITS VERY WELL WRITTEN AND I ADORE THE SHOW. 12. hi,steve. ilook at your show on april 30,20008 i think you are a big bullie and that you alreadyhave your mind made up on yelling and humilate the people that try to explain to you all you know is get off my show.you are avery hot,hot head i don,t like your show at all,you are a sick man. cynthia

  13. Cynthia,
You are a moron and you are not allowed to watch.

  14. dear steve i love your show i love it when you get in the face of people that hurt babbies steve i was wanted to know when they dont pass the lie test do you put them in jail i hope so cause if you dont stand up for them kids how will keep done what your are done you are just done what best for them kids cause the mother or father wont

  15. i watched the steve wilkos show twice. it was boring watching steve verbally beat up a little wimpy child molester for an hour the first time. i thought i would try watching a second. steve wilkos started with yelling and screaming at a teenage ho that is a brat to her mom. i thought that i would save waisting my time, and i tuned back in almost an hour later to see steve still beating up on the same teenage tramp, then he kisses her butt up, down, and sideways the last minute of the show. what kind of power trip is he on anyway? he is getting too fat, i think that he has too much of an ego, and i will say it to his face.

  16. I’m sure that Steve Wilkos has saved some children, but I think that Steve Wilkos has a head full of hot air. All Steve does is yell. I feel sorry for the children that get abused and think that it is the most terrible thing in the world to be molested, abused, or raped by an adult close to them, or anyone for that matter. I think that those parents shouldn’t waste their time going to Steve Wilkos. Steve Wilkos needs to learn that lie dectector tests don’t always work.

  17. Dear Steve,First of all I want you to know how much I love your show, I never miss an episode. I am a single mother of an Autistic child and being his mother has been my greatest joy. I love him more than words can say. I see these sickos on your show and its all I can do to stay calm! Ignore these E Mails that say your to hard on these creeps, these people are no better than the monsters themselves. Not only are you trying to make the world a better place, you are a Hero! God Bless you Steve Lisa

  18. Dear Steve,
I’m writting to you to day, because of a show that I watched that has mad me “VARY MAD”. It was the one, “Wowen In Need”, it was about the 21 year old girl that was three months pragnent and she was doing drugs and alcohol. That makes me so upset, why, because when I was 19, I got pragnent, not knowing it, I drank ALOT for the first four months, tel I found out that I was going to have a baby. Lets just say that if I could go back in time, I would.. My son just turned five, and he has been diagnosed with F.A.S ( fetal alcohol syndrome )..And on top of that it has coused him to get A.D.H.D, O.C.D and O.D.D. My son has to deal with MY mistake for the rest of HIS life, and I can’t do anything about it, but try and help him deal with it…
Most days I cry because I just can’t handle it, but I do. I’m not looking for anyone to feel bad for me, because I did it to my self, and to him, I just wont people to understand that drinking and pregnancy REALY don’t go together, and I know that.
    P.S.
keep up the good work, your doing great.
    your friend,
    Jenn

  19. steve:
When I wached your show the frist time. I did not like it but waching it a little more on new shows
I got to under stand why you have to get upset Just some times you have to just to get thou people heads. Thanks tiffany

  20. I’m a 22 year old male, and I very much appreciate what you do. I’d join in with you ninety percent of the time. Getting angry and being loud about it is usually the only way to make someone wake up – making them face it and continuing to press the issue until they become uncomfortable and admit things they wouldn’t normally say. Like today I caught the end of the “Devil Mom” episode, and when under pressure she resorted to claiming “they won’t keep me the full time, they’ll let me out, they’ll let me out”. That tells you what is really on her mind doesn’t it? She just wants her freedom back. No remorse.
Scum like this deserve every loud word you put in their ear. And even if they won’t change, I hope we can all get stronger against them until these freaks are locked up or dead. I’m tired of seeing these cowards pick up a gun and a trenchcoat and shoot up some public place just because they aren’t living like royalty. They are all quickly approaching their own doom and I will laugh at their demise, even if I have to mourn those that they injure. Thank you for being one of the few to stand up. You’re the talk show version of the Equalizer.

  21. hi steve my name is michelle i think you are doing a good job keep it up
