Alexis Glick, Fox Business Channel – Hot List 2007

Jul 15, 2007  •  Post A Comment

Title: Director of business news, Fox Business Channel
Date of birth: Aug. 7, 1972
Place of birth: Manhattan
Big break: While running operations for Morgan Stanley, Ms. Glick appeared regularly on various television shows. After an appearance on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” she received a crumpled-up piece of paper with a message on it to call David Friend, executive producer of CNBC. When they met for breakfast on Christmas Eve morning 2002, Mr. Friend asked Ms. Glick to join “Squawk Box” full-time. She did so six months later.
Who knew?? Ms. Glick was an all-city basketball player in New York, a shooting guard who averaged about 22 points per game and scored a high of 35.
Do a Google search on Alexis Glick and you enter the land of drooling men who see a babe. But here’s what she sees: a sports buff, a challenge seeker, a makeup-averse wife and mother of three sons, a career woman who e-mails herself at 3 a.m. so she’ll remember ideas she had for the nascent Fox Business Channel during late-night feedings.
Her lawyer father took a pay cut to become a music manager and advocate for artists’ rights. Her mother was a secretary at Shearson Lehman, now Lehman Brothers. So Ms. Glick grew up hanging around backstage at rock concerts and the empire of former Shearson and Citigroup CEO Sanford Weill.
After starting as an analyst at Goldman Sachs and moving up the ladder at Morgan Stanley, where she headed the New York Stock Exchange floor operations and was one of the youngest women to become executive director, she was hired by CNBC to report from the floor of the NYSE.
A year later, after she had taken time off for the birth of her second son, she joined “Today,” first as a contributor and then as a featured player. It was there she learned how to read a TelePrompTer and translate off-camera jargon.
“Was it a fast move? Was it a crash course? It was, but I’m all about a challenge,” she said. “My dad said, ‘When you feel like your learning curve is flat, you probably need to do something different.'”
Her higher profile on “Today” cast her as a potential successor to Katie Couric, but instead Meredith Vieira was hired to co-anchor with Matt Lauer, and Ms. Glick left NBC News.
She was hired in September as director of business news for Fox News, where she quickly took to Chairman-CEO Roger Ailes, Business Managing Editor Neil Cavuto and Executive VP Kevin Magee.
She is involved in developing the defining vision, mission, look and programming for Fox Business Channel, which is expected to launch in the fourth quarter.
In many ways, Ms. Glick herself defines an audience the channel will target. Her husband, Oren, owns Shoot Digital, a photography, post-production and ad business with clients like Estee Lauder, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom.
They have eschewed his-and-hers bank accounts in favor of “our” accounts. They don’t sock away as much money in savings as her grandmother did, but they do put money into plans that ensure education for the children.
They also believe “you’ve got to live a little bit in the moment,” she said.
That’s one reason Ms. Glick thinks she’s a good fit at Fox.
“It’s a dynamic environment,” she said. “You walk in and you just don’t know — is this going to be the best day of your life? Is this going to be the worst day of your life?”
At Fox, she said, “There’s nothing they’re afraid to do.
“This is the most exciting job I ever had.”

  1. Fox is lucky to have nabbed the prettiest, most intelligent and most physically attractive lady on television. No wonder NBC is going downhill letting her go.

  2. Alexis Glick paparazzi video>>>http://hotpaparazzivideo.blogspot.com/ Adults only!

  3. My name is Anwar Sadaat. I live in Kohat, a remote twon in Pakistan. while watching C Span i saw Glick , anchoring a programe, where Ruport Murdoch addressed. I did know Rupert Murdoch, but never heard about Glick. She is so impressive.
    Anwar Sadaat.
    Kohat.
    Pakistan.

  4. SHE REMINDS ME OF THERESA WRIGHT THE ACTRESS WHO WAS IN “THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIFFE” IN 1946

  5. I would like to have a copy of a page in writing about FDIC and retirement accounts insured up to $250,000

  6. Tell Neil Cavuto that he can stay on vacation as long as he wants, as long as Glick does his show.

  7. She is not as smart as she thinks she is. She was promoted based on a small amount of brains and a pretty body & face.

  8. Alixis Glick, has the worst speaking voice of any business news reporer. She was dumped by CNBC due to all the negative reports from viewers. Now, if you would accomodate a long time spectator, you would dump her, david asman, and neil cavuto, (that pompous ass).

  9. Alixis Glick has a wonderful speaking voice unless you are deaf. She was promoted and took a step up from MSNBC to a place with better ratings and honesty. Now, if you would just get everyone to say what I want to hear, even if it is illogical.

  10. I watch her show before the markets open up. I love how the horny senators drool all over her. She is not bad as a business reporter. I think people grade her harshly because of her good looks. After you watch her for months, you get past the pretty face. She delivers a god business report. Fox is fortunate to have her.

  11. glick is not that hot. seems a little impressed with herself. doesn’t seem genuine. perhaps i’m mistaken. it’s easy to critize celebrities. i like neil cavuto, maybe he is just a better actor.

  12. Alexis seems very normal and down to earth, not at all what I expected from a fox News anchor. NBC made a big mistake not picking her for couric’s replacement. In one year at Fox, she’s proved to be a ratings draw as the solo anchor of an increasingly popular two-hour morning block. She’s a master of all journalistic traits. She can do it all and look good doing it. She’s great eye candy but men don’t think of her as a pinup first.

  13. Alexis is a pro and she knows what she is talking about. She is perfect for the show and won’t bs the viewer. It is a joy to watch her and to see what the upcoming trading day will hold in store.

  14. ALEXIS IS AWESOME,SHE’S INTELLIGENT AND BEAUTIFUL THE PICTURE WITH SWITZERLAND AS A BACKGROUND WAS FANTASTIC. YOUR ONLY FAULT YOUR MARRIED LUCKY HOUNDDOG HUSBAND. GREAT JOB AS ALWAYS.

  15. I’m honored to be the first person to comment on Alexis on this website way back in September 2007. I’m also honored that my statement is still on there. Here it is 2009 and the compliments I gave her then you can triple now. WOW! Words cannot describe.
    ED

  16. Alexis Glick is a class business commentator who projects an image of competence and energy along with an engaging presence and style. Good looks can be smart also as Fox continually demonstrates with a number of their on-air personnel. Certainly more impressive than the liberal ‘smartest guys in the room’ personalities of Fox’s competitors. Good on you girl.

  17. I just watched the YouTube story you did on ACORN dated June 2009? Mathew from Capitol Research Center is correct. In 97 B.Clinton reinforced the CRA enacted by J. Carter to push for the high risk sub-prime lending practices. What some might not want to recall is a community organizer named Barack Obama as a young lawyer with the Chicago firm Davis, Miner, Barnhill and Gallard threatened Law suits on CitiBank and BofA if they didn’t make those low down, no down, sub-prime loans and ACORN was the muscle behind the protest. I’ve been chasing these stories since Obama first came on the scene and followed him backwards from there. That’s how we got here!
This is not a good thing for our Country.
    Thanks for allowing the post.
    Yankey Doodle.

  19. Alexis, you have what it takes girl!It was a wise move by FOX to hire you.I’am not just saying this because your a beautiful woman(genuine beauty by the way)it’s the full the package. You have a great personality, you dress very nice, you have a nice voice, you come across very well and informed.I can see it in your eyes, what you see is what you get.

  20. Dude…..have you mentioned anything that she hasn’t heard before? Especially from the men that actually have a chance atromancing her. Stand in line and Dream on buddy! She gets paid a good salary to perform a job that you are so easily impressed with. Of course she dresses well….they hire someone to do that……….of course she’s attractive……they need the ratings…….of course you are enamored by her…..thats the focus……..now your wasting time day dreaming and complimenting some woman who doesnt even know you exist, let alone be flattered at the fact that you agree with FOX NEWS to hire such a beauty. Or, are you so trusting that you’ll believe anything that the picture puts in front of you. Don’t get distracted by good looks alone. They’ll tempt you and encourage you to make foolish mistakes. You mentioned…..”what you see is what you get” are you sure you’d like to stand by those words? Are you able to distinguish a real from a phony when you see one? She’s an actress who represents a news channel. You don’t know a thing about her except for her profesional talent and her bueaty. Unless, you’ve had coffee or lunch with her? Who know’s may be you have and I could be a rambling fool.

  22. exemplary work. You have gained a new subscriber. I hope you can keep up the good work and I eagerly await more of your absorbing posts.

  23. My view: To Mr. Grijalva, D Rep AZ:
Where is your loyalty? You need to decide. If it’s with the Mexicans, you need to apologize to Arizona and resign. If it’s to the United States, you need to retract your statements re SB1070.
Where is your allegiance? Governor Brewer bravely did the right thing to save Arizona and set a great example for our country.
I live in Green Valley. This is an older population and we no longer feel safe. I am 77. Illegals are picked up just three blocks up from my house. They go through the drainage canal at night. It is very disturbing to me. We had thought in 2000 this would be a great place to retire. Wrong.
I am very angry and disagree with your idiotic view. You are VERY wrong, and your words sound very un-American. Does Mexico allow illegals? Mexicans need a visa if they want to come here and shop. Why are they treated differently than US citizens? The protestors from California should have kept their noses out of Arizona business.
To create a easy pathway to citizenship would be an insult to all who came legally before. My father came legally in 1925 from Switzerland, became a citizen, worked and raised a family. My maternal grandparents came steerage from Sweden through Ellis Island, became citizens, worked, and raised a family. They flew the US flag proudly on a hand hewn pole in front of their cabin. Now we get Mexican flags waved in our face. MY CIVIL RIGHTS???? VIOLATED!
President Eisenhower cleaned out this country when he was president so returning servicemen could have jobs. American citizens are hungry and out of work. I have Hispanic friends who are legally here, some born here, and some now on food stamps because of the illegals. Racial profiling has been going on a long time – my female friends and their daughters are routinely stopped or followed to work by the Border Patrol; they are US citizens. If I had spoken my
Swiss-German during WWII, what would have happened? And, I was born here.
Nothing public should have the added cost of printing in Spanish. English is the official language of the United States of America. If you can’t read or speak English, learn it! I tried to teach reading to second graders for 2 years, but it was a waste of time as they went home to parents who did not read or speak English. I guess they just shove them through school at taxpayer expense.
We know Obama does not have a clue about what’s going on here. His stupid statement the borders were secure borders on insanity. His henchmen don’t keep him informed; also he does not care. I guess you just can’t fix stupid. His loyalty is clearly not to the United States. He is
a orating puppet and the American people are fed up with it. Instead of going ballistic about Arizona’s recent law, he should have found out first what it meant to the people of Arizona. Because someone one-upped him and did the right thing he should have kept his mouth shut.

  31. The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

  32. Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers,

  69. Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

  70. Interesting layout on your blog. I really enjoyed reading it and also I will be back to read more in the future.

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.
