ESPN plans to incorporate user-generated video into its “Monday Night Football” games this season.
Fans who create videos about their favorite teams’ upcoming appearances on “Monday Night Football” will be able to upload them on the “Monday Night Surround” section of ESPN.com.
Two videos will be selected each week to be shown on ESPN during the game.
“This is the latest evolution of our innovative multiplatform approach to ‘Monday Night Football,’ as ESPN celebrates the passion, creativity and spontaneity of NFL fans by giving them the opportunity to turn the cameras on themselves and be part of our weekly game telecast,” John Skipper, ESPN executive VP for content.
Earlier this year, ESPN launched a “Home Video” segment on “SportsCenter” and a “Soundoff” segment on its “College Football Live.”
