Mariane Pearl, widow of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, will give the keynote address at the 21st annual conference of the National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications Sept. 18 in Manhattan.
Ms. Pearl, who is an award-winning journalist, co-founded the Daniel Pearl Foundation in order to promote cross-cultural understanding through different lines of communication, including journalism and music.
She is also the author of “A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Danny Pearl,” which was recently adapted into a film starring Angelina Jolie.
The Walter Kaitz Foundation, the cable industry’s foundation dedicated to promoting diversity, and iN Demand Networks are sponsoring the keynote address as well as the general session that follows.
The session will focus on the impact of the media’s portrayal of ethnic groups.
The NAMIC conference runs Sept. 16-18 at the Hilton New York.
