Michele Ganeless was named president of Comedy Central.
Ms. Ganeless had been executive VP and general manger of the Viacom-owned channel.
She reports to Doug Herzog, president of the MTV Networks Entertainment Group.
Comedy Central said Ganeless’ mandate in her expanded role is to bolster the strength of the channel’s brand and its programming, across the digital universe, as well as on traditional television.
“Michele has extraordinary credentials and experience in all aspects of television. Her passion for this network is evidenced by her longtime service here. She is an invaluable asset as we continue to build and solidify our business,” Mr. Herzog said.
Ms. Ganeless is in her third tour of duty with Comedy Central, having served hitches from 1992 to 1995 and from 1996 to 2001. She rejoined Comedy Central from USA Network in 2004.
