Rah-rah for reality.
CMT, which this week launched a reality show on the making of this season’s Dallas Cowboys cheerleader squad, said it plans to air a new makeover show called “I Want to Look Like a High School Cheerleader Again.”
The network has hired Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders trainer Jay Johnson to help a group of former sideline sweeties get back into the shape they were in during their teen glory years.
The 10 participants will have to endure physical and emotional challenges in order to get back into their high-school uniforms. The winner gets a $50,000 prize and a chance to perform again in front of a live audience.
“Every former athlete at some point in their lives looks back at their high school days and thinks, ‘Man, if I could be in that kind of shape again, to have one crack at feeling that energy and that rush again, I’d do it in a heartbeat,’” said Bob Kusbit, head of development for CMT. “We’re giving some lucky women a chance to change their health, their attitude, their lives and relive those cheerleading glory days all over again.”
The show is currently in production in Los Angeles. It’s scheduled to premiere in October.
“I Want to Look Like a High School Cheerleader Again” was developed in-house by CMT. The show is produced by Triage Entertainment.

  1. Interesting concept. Perhaps a more palatable/better quality alternative to “The Biggest Loser.”

  2. Great Idea! I bet you will get a lot of viewers for this show. I believe Cheerleading is one of the top sports for girls at this time. Can’t wait to watch it.

  3. How do I get on this show?

  4. Are there going to be any shows for women who want to get their high school athletic bodies back. I used to play volleyball, basketball, and run track. After 3 kids and being a stay at home mom those years are long since gone. Keep me posted. This is a great show and I can sympathize with these ladies whole heartedly. Good luck ladies and hang in there. The feeling of regaining your self confidence back is what ultimately matters in the end.

  5. This show was designed with me in mind! I was a cheerleader and I am now 40 years old and out of shape. I’ve had a really tough year. My dad passed away and my husband was diagnosed with Leukemia. This is the stress relief and confident builder that I need. Please let me be on your show!
    Good luck ladies!

  6. I would love to be on the show. I am a 32 year old girl with two girls and I’m 20 pounds over weight.I have allways loved to cheer it is a feeling I haven’t felt in a long time when you run out on that feild for a game and the screams and the happiness it just sends chills through my body.I know It will be hard to be away from my girls for 10 weeks or whatever it is but to be able to get back in shape and the chance to cheer one last time ..well you know its worth it. :)I would love to be on the show. 7. I saw your show a few weeks ago and enjoyed it! I too was a cheerleader back in high school, 1973/74. I am now 50 years old and 30 lbs overweight. I would love to get back in shape and this show would do it for me! It would be so exciting to go through a vigorous exercise program with CMT at a chance of winning $50,000 and more importantly lose 30 lbs. Such weight loss would be terrific for me!!!

  8. This show is what I need, desire, and yearn for to get back to that size. I was at my best when I was smaller and in shape. I am a whole person bigger and almost 40. I would love to be much smaller by the time I hit 40 and have the opportunity to lose weight, be among other fellow cheerleaders with the same goal, meet new people, and have an opportunity to win some money. I exercise but not consistent and it certainly does not show – smile. I would like to know what to do and learn from the CMT. I only got the pleasure of seeing the 1st episode of this show since I work all the time which I loved. Please contact me to be on the next show; I have many points to prove, goals to make, resolutions to obtain, and happiness to come – which I hope I would love to see happen on your show.
