The Paley Center for Media’s campaign to bring the institution into the digital age, dubbed MTR 2.0, has received a $1.5 million donation from NBC Universal.
With the gift, NBC Universal President-CEO Jeff Zucker becomes honorary co-chairman for the campaign.
Formerly the Museum of Television & Radio, the Paley Center has raised more than $15 million toward its first-phase goal of $20 million by the end of 2007. The campaign’s overall goal is $30 million.
Funds from the first phase of the campaign will be used to update the Paley Center technologically, such as digitizing television and radio content for preservation and improving visitor experiences at the center’s Beverly Hills and New York outposts.
Other donators to the campaign include the William Randolph Hearst Foundation, the Annenberg Foundation, the Hauser Foundation and the Hearst Corporation.
