Oliver to Lead Ad Sales for TVWeek

Sep 16, 2007  •  Post A Comment

Lawrence W. Oliver has been named national sales director for TelevisionWeek.

Most recently, Mr. Oliver was vice president/general manager/publisher of Multichannel News and Broadcasting & Cable and group publisher of Twice. All three publications are part of Reed Business Information.

“This is a real coup for us,” said Chuck Ross, TelevisionWeek publisher and editorial director. “Besides being one of the smartest executives I know, Larry is truly beloved by the TV industry. He’s been leading our competition for basically the past 15 years, and he’s done a terrific job.”

Before joining Cahners Publishing Co. in 1991 as associate publisher of B&C, Mr. Oliver was at BPI Communications, where he was the publisher of Mediaweek when it launched.

From 1980 to 1989, he worked for Crain Communications, owner of TelevisionWeek, at Advertising Age, where he rose from sales rep to associate publisher. It was back in 1982 that TelevisionWeek, then called Electronic Media, was created as a spinoff of Advertising Age.

“I am delighted to be joining Chuck and the team here at TelevisionWeek,” Mr. Oliver said. “They’ve been very formidable competition over the years. Besides having an impressive print product, TVWeek is a leader both on the Internet and with its events. I’m excited to help them become even more formidable in these areas.”

“Larry is a great addition to our team,” said Mr. Ross. “He’s a tremendous leader. And he’s got extraordinary sales skills that are just the ticket to explain to our advertisers and potential advertisers how TelevisionWeek and our entire 360 lineup of products can benefit them.”

Effective immediately, Mr. Oliver will be based in TelevisionWeek’s New York office. He can be reached at (212) 210-0706 or loliver@tvweek.com.
