Former King World and CNBC exec Andy Friendly has been hired as executive producer and programming consultant at Planet Green, Discovery Communications’ eco-conscious channel. The company is converting its Discovery Home network, which has 50 million subscribers, to a channel that will be devoted full-time to information about preserving the planet. Mr. Friendly said he will be exec producing a new show for the channel through his Andy Friendly Productions and consulting with Planet Green President/General Manager Eileen O’Neill on programming and development. “I’m involved in the early formulation of 10 to 12 different series and working with her development team on a wide range of shows,” he said.
