‘Prom Queen’ Gets International Distribution

Michael Eisner’s Web video hit “Prom Queen” is going global.
Mr. Eisner’s new media production shop The Tornante Company announced a deal to distribute both the original “Prom Queen” and its spinoff with French company Cyber-Group Animation dubbed in French for mobile, broadband, TV and home video, and with Japanese-based Rights Entertainment to distribute the series in Japanese and produce a localized version.
They will be available fore Japanese and French audiences next year.
“Prom Queen” ran in the spring on MySpace, Vuguru.com, Veoh and other sites, netting more than 15 million views. The spinoff has garnered more than 2.5 million views so far.
The twin deals are among the first distribution deals for a U.S. Web series to be adapted for international viewers.
