Telemundo reporter Mirthala Salinas, who was suspended for two months over her affair with Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, has left her position with the company’s KVEA-TV Channel 52, effective Monday.
Ms. Salinas, who had an affair with the mayor while reporting on him, had been reassigned to the station’s Inland Empire bureau in Riverside, Calif.
However, according to the Associated Press, Ms. Salinas did not show up Monday for her first day on her new assignment, effectively ending her employment at Telemundo.
Station spokesman Victor M. Franco said the station and Ms. Salinas “have mutually agreed to end our employment relationship effective Oct. 1.”
