Jeff Bewkes, Time Warner president and chief operating officer, has been named successor to Richard Parsons as CEO of Time Warner, effective Jan. 1.
Mr. Bewkes will retain his title of president when he assumes the position of CEO on Jan. 1.
Mr. Parsons will remain chairman of the board of directors after he steps down.
Named president-COO in 2006, Mr. Bewkes previously was chairman of Time Warner’s entertainment and networks group.
“Jeff is the right person to be the next CEO of Time Warner, and I couldn’t be more delighted that he will lead this company into the future,” Mr. Parsons said. “His results-oriented management style and deep industry knowledge will be invaluable as he drives growth at Time Warner.”
