Production is scheduled to begin next spring on 22 episodes, which will be spilt and aired in two separate cycles.
“Rescue Me” star Denis Leary was nominated for an actor Emmy last season, and the show rang up an average of 2.8 million total viewers.
“The show has been a great source of pride to FX, and remains one of the cornerstones of our respected brand of original series,” said FX President John Landgraf. “We’re thrilled to announce that the fans will be getting at least 22 more episodes of ‘Rescue Me’s’ audacious and original blend of comedy and tragedy.”
