MTV has greenlit a new dance competition series from “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson.
Tentatively titled “Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew,” the series is scheduled to debut in the first quarter.
Dance teams of five to seven members will get a shot at a cash prize and a touring contract.
Casting begins Dec. 4 in Atlanta and will continue in other cities. A list of sites is available on MTV.com.
“Together with Randy Jackson, we are setting the stage for dance teams nationwide to finally show their stuff,” said Tony DiSanto, executive VP of series development and programming for MTV. “It’s about teamwork, determination and ultimately witnessing individuals from every possible background struggle and persevere for one single goal—to be the very best.”
“I have always wanted to do something with MTV,” said Mr. Jackson. “MTV has the biggest voice, especially as it relates to music, dance and entertainment. I’m happy to be joining with them on this show.”
