Fox News Channel lead anchor Shepard Smith has signed a new deal that will pay him between $7 million and $8 million per year for a little more than three years, the New York Times reports.
“The Fox Report With Shepard Smith,” currently averaging some 1.5 million viewers, has ranked No. 1 in the 7-8 p.m. weekday time slot for nearly six of its eight years on the cable channel’s lineup. His weekday mid-afternoon hour, “Studio B,” also is the most-watched cable news show in its time period.
“Shep has an exceptional talent for delivering the news in a distinct and engaging manner. His passion and enthusiasm are unmatched in the industry,” said Roger Ailes, chairman-CEO of Fox News and chairman of Fox Television Stations, in announcing the deal Monday.
“Fox has been my home for more than a decade and I’m thrilled to remain with the network that has revolutionized the television news landscape,” said Mr. Smith, who has been with Fox since it launched in 1996.
