DreamWorks Animation and Nickelodeon are ordering 26 episodes of tentatively titled CG-animated series “The Penguins of Madagascar,” based on characters from the 2005 DreamWorks feature “Madagascar.”
The show will revolve around Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private, four penguins performing secret missions throughout New York City from their base of operations at the Central Park Zoo.
Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley, co-creators of Disney’s “Kim Possible,” are on board as executive producers.
The half-hour show will be produced at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, Calif., and is scheduled to premiere in early 2009.
