Teri Everett has been named chief spokesperson for News Corp.
She was based in Los Angeles for the last seven years as the senior VP of corporate affairs and communications and has now relocated to News Corp. headquarters in New York City.
Ms. Everett succeeds Andrew Butcher, who is returning at year’s end to his native Australia after nearly 10 years in the position and another decade as a journalist.
Succeeding Ms. Everett in Los Angeles is Julie Henderson, who has been promoted from senior VP of communications for Fox Interactive Media (FIM) to senior VP of corporate affairs and communications for News Corp.
Ms. Everett and Ms. Henderson will report to Gary Ginsberg, News Corporation executive VP of global marketing and corporate affairs.
“Teri and Julie are two of the most talented communications executives in the media business. Teri’s outstanding record of achievement running our West Coast communications operations, extensive range of contacts throughout the industry, and strategic capabilities make her the natural choice to serve as the company’s chief spokesperson. Julie’s success in positioning our Internet properties and her background in digital media will be key as we reshape News Corp. for the future,” Mr. Ginsberg said in Tuesday’s announcement of the moves. “Andrew has worked tirelessly over the past eight years to elevate the company’s profile with keen intelligence and razor-sharp wit. We will miss him and wish him every success as he embarks on the next phase of his career in Australia.”
Prior to joining News Corp., Ms. Everett’s career included stints heading the communications department of ABC News and serving as chief communications officer of the global advertising agency, Euro RSCG Worldwide.
Ms. Henderson previously was a partner with mPRm Public Relations, where she focused on providing counsel to companies at the convergence of entertainment and technology.
