Kelly Ripa and husband Mark Consuelos will co-executive produce a film for ESPN about Brandon High School in Tampa, Fla., whose wrestling team has won 451 straight matches over 34 years.
Mr. Consuelos attended Brandon High School for one semester, but spent most of his high school years at Bloomingdale High, a rival school in Tampa.
The one hour documentary, titled “The Streak,” is scheduled to be televised in October.
“From the start, Kelly’s and Mark’s enthusiasm for this project has been as much a selling point as the jaw-dropping record of the Brandon High wrestling team,” said Joan Lynch, ESPN executive producer and VP of ESPN content development. “Great stories like this one need to be told and can be enjoyed by sports fans and non-sports fans alike because of the personal storylines and drama behind the team’s amazing success.”
The couple’s Milojo Productions will work in association with producer John Hock and Hock Films on the movie, which will follow the 2007-08 season of the Brandon wrestling program.
