Directors, Producers Enter Formal Talks

Jan 11, 2008  •  Post A Comment

The Directors Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers announced today they have agreed to enter into formal talks and will meet at the negotiating table tomorrow at the Alliance’s headquarters in Encino, Calif.
Both the DGA and AMPTP said they have agreed to not make any statements to the press until after negotiations have concluded.
“We wish the DGA well and hope that they achieve a fair deal that incorporates principles that will benefit all creative artists. The DGA has to do what is best for its membership, but it is important to remember that they do not represent actors and writers,” the Writers Guild of America said in a joint statement with the Screen Actors Guild.
The WGA, who is in a contract stalemate with the AMPTP over Internet residuals, had asked the DGA to refrain from negotiations with producers until after the writers had returned to talks with the AMPTP.
