GLAAD Announces 2008 Award Nominees

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation was scheduled to announce the nominees for its 19th annual GLAAD Media Awards on Sunday at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. The awards recognize “fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.”
For TV drama series, the nominees are “Brothers & Sisters” (ABC); “Degrassi: The Next Generation” (The N); “Dirty Sexy Money” (ABC); “Greek” (ABC Family); and “The L Word” (Showtime). Nominated for comedy series are “Desperate Housewives” (ABC); “Exes and Ohs” (Logo); “The Sarah Silverman Program” (Comedy Central); “Ugly Betty” (ABC); and “The War at Home” (Fox). Reality programs nominated are the “Chase/Lane” installment of “Trading Spouses” (Fox); “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List” (Bravo); “Project Runway” (Bravo); “Who Wants to Be a Superhero?” (Sci Fi); and “Work Out” (Bravo). Movies or miniseries nominated are “Daphne” (Logo); “The DL Chronicles” (Here!); and “The State Within” (BBC America). Nominations also were announced for TV documentary, talk show episode, daily drama and TV journalism.
GLAAD Media Awards ceremonies will be held March 17 in New York; April 12 in South Florida; April 26 in Los Angeles; and May 10 in San Francisco. For a complete list of nominees, go to www.glaad.org/mediaawards.
