Elisabeth Murdoch, chairman-CEO of U.K. producer Shine, will deliver the keynote speech at this year’s Mip TV Featuring MILIA on April 7. This year’s event, with the theme “Audiences on the Move,” will focus on the latest global developments in TV programming, advertising, broadband distribution, mobile media and social networking.
Mip TV Featuring MILIA, which brings together content creation, production and distribution professionals, runs April 7-11 in Cannes.
Shine, founded by Ms. Murdoch in 2001, has become one of the U.K.’s leading independent TV production companies, responsible for such programming as “Sugar Rush,” “Masterchef Goes Large,” “The Story of Light Entertainment” and the “Greatest Britons” awards. Prior to Shine, Ms. Murdoch was managing director of BSkyB Networks and owned and operated two NBC affiliate stations in the United States.
Late last year, Shine entered into exclusive negotiations to acquire leading U.S. producer-distributor Reveille, the company behind “Ugly Betty,” “The Office” and “American Gladiators.” The deal is expected to be completed in February.
