Werner to Oversee WB’s Consolidated Domestic Distribution

Two distribution arms of the Warner Bros. Television Group, Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution and Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution, are merging into one domestic distribution entity, the company announced today.
Ken Werner, president of WBDTD since August 2006, will oversee the expanded distribution division.
With the move, Eric Frankel, president of WBDCD since 2001, will leave the company.
WBDTD has handled the sale of feature films, first-run syndication and off-network programs to local television stations. WBDCD has handled sales in those areas to pay, cable, satellite and broadcast networks.
Bruce Rosenblum, Warner Bros. Television Group president, said, “In the last few years, the markets served by our two divisions have evolved into one marketplace. It is clear that having two domestic distribution units in an environment of blended distribution windows is neither financially prudent nor strategically smart. Having one operation represent our product to syndicated, cable and satellite buyers domestically will help us to better serve these clients, be more nimble and responsive in the marketplace and heighten our competitive advantage.”
