Cablevision VOD Service Narrows Window on New Releases

Feb 4, 2008  •  Post A Comment

Cablevision is offering a new video-on-demand service that lets consumers watch new releases on demand before they are widely available, the company announced today.
Under the new “Popcorn DVDs on Demand” service, Cablevision will offer certain films for VOD viewing on the same day the movies arrive in stores for DVD purchase.
New releases are priced at $19.95, plus shipping, while library titles cost between $9.95 and $15.95, plus shipping.
Customers who purchase the DVD can view the film on-demand and then receive the DVD later in the mail.
The new program lets Cablevision offer movies on-demand in advance of the standard window for viewing VOD films.
