Unsurprisingly, a two-hour “American Idol” gave Fox yet another Tuesday win, allowing the network to beat the combined nightly average for all the other broadcast nets.
According to preliminary Nielsen numbers for the 18- to 49-year-old demo, Fox (11.2) dominated, even though “Idol” slipped 9% from last week.
Second place went to NBC (3.3), running a two-hour “The Biggest Loser: Couples” head-to-head against “Idol.” “Loser’s” 3.3 was up about 14% from last week. A “Law & Order: SVU” repeat (3.3) rounded out NBC’s night.
CBS placed third (2.0) with an “NCIS” repeat (2.1), “Big Brother” (1.9) and “Jericho” (2.0). “Brother” and “Jericho” dropped about 23% from last week’s premieres.
Despite new episodes of “Just for Laughs” (1.2), “According to Jim” (1.6), “Carpoolers” (1.4) and “Boston Legal” (1.9), ABC still finished fourth (1.5).
“Legal” continues to languish, tying last week’s record-low showing.
The CW (1.0) came in fifth with a repeat of “Reaper” (0.8) and a new episode of “One Tree Hill” (1.3), both steady from last week.
