The 2008 global content convention Mip TV Featuring Milia will include a series of events focusing on the role of television and media in environmental protection.
The “Green Day” debates and symposia, set for April 7 at the event in Cannes, will feature keynotes David de Rothschild of Nickelodeon U.K., Kevin Wall of Live Earth and “Earth From Above” documentarian Yann Arthus-Bertrand.
Also during Green Day, Japan’s public broadcaster NHK will receive a Green World Award in honor of the channel’s continuing commitment to raising public awareness of environmental issues over the last 50 years.
The Green Day program is part of an initiative by Reed Midem, the trade show’s organizer.
“Mip TV’s green conferences underpin Reed Midem’s ‘Going Green’ strategy of promoting environmental awareness and sound ecological practice to the entertainment and media industries,” said Paul Johnson, director of the event’s television division. “We continue to use Mip TV as a forum to help companies worldwide exchange innovative ideas that contribute to sustainable green solutions that improve the world we live in.”
