YouTube should send Sarah Silverman a thank-you card.
The world’s biggest video-sharing site saw its unique visitors jump to 34.1 million for the week ending Feb. 3, up from 30.7 million for the week ending Jan. 27, according to Nielsen Online.
The measurement company does not track the specific reasons for weekly dips and jumps, but Ms. Silverman’s video about her “relationship” with Matt Damon hit YouTube on Feb. 1 and had risen to about 2 million views just two days later.
YouTube probably will see an even bigger audience increase when the next set of numbers is released because those will likely include views of Super Bowl ads on YouTube as well as the popular Barack Obama-inspired “Yes We Can” video.
Meanwhile, MSN Video dipped to 3.3 million uniques for the week ending Feb. 3, down from 3.9 million the week before. Yahoo Video stayed steady with 1.5 million unique visitors, about on par with the week before.
