The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is moving the Primetime Emmy Awards, to be held Sept. 21, to Los Angeles’ new Nokia Theater this year. The Emmys traditionally have been held nearby at the Shrine Auditorium.
“We are very excited to be moving to this new state-of-the-art facility for our landmark 60th Primetime Emmy telecast,” ATAS CEO John Shaffner said today in a statement.
The move is part of a 10-year agreement with Nokia operator AEG that also will place the Academy’s Creative Arts Emmy Show at the 7,100-seat Nokia Theater, which opened in October, and its Governors Ball at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
