CBS Television Distribution named John Nogawski as company president, where he will oversee all creative, business and administrative operations for CBS Corp.’s domestic syndication company. Mr. Nogawski will report directly to CBS CEO and President Leslie Moonves.
Mr. Nogawski had been serving as co-president and COO alongside Robert Madden. Mr. Madden is shifting to the newly created position of senior executive vice president for CBS Television Distribution, reporting to Mr. Nogawski.
Mr. Madden will be responsible for overseeing the company’s programming partnerships with Sony Pictures Television for “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy!,” and with Harpo Productions for “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” among other duties.
Mr. Nogawski had worked in his prior job since September 2006, reporting to division CEO Roger King, who passed away in December.
“I’m very honored to take the helm of this peerless organization,” Mr. Nogawski said in an interview. “Our success comes from the incredible team of executives we have formed over the years. I know this team, under the great CBS banner, will build on that success and capitalize on the many new opportunities for growth that lie ahead.”
Most of the key members of the division will remain in their current roles, including President of Sales Joe DiSalvo and Terry Wood, who is president of creative affairs and development for the division.
“Less than two years ago, King World and Paramount combined under Roger King’s great stewardship to form the pre-eminent distribution company in the business,” Mr. Moonves said in a statement. “We miss Roger every day, but we’re fortunate to have first-class executives such as John and Bob to carry on that great tradition of leadership and success.”
The news or Mr. Nogawski’s promotion was reported earlier today by Broadcasting and Cable.
He credited Mr. Nogawski’s achievements at CBS’s syndication business.
“John has a resume of success across all areas of syndication—first-run and off-network programming as well as both station and media sales. He has been instrumental in nurturing a path to syndication for our owned programming, and coming up with new, innovative revenue-generating opportunities through our program library, integrated marketing efforts and in the digital space,” Mr. Moonves said.
Mr. Moonves also praised Mr. Madden.
“For his part, Bob Madden is one of the most highly regarded executives in the business, with tremendous relationships across our industry,” he said. “We look forward to the contributions he will make in his new role, and his continued leadership on the flagship programming of the King World legacy.”
