Kathie Lee Gifford Joins Fourth Hour of ‘Today’

“Today” welcomed Kathie Lee Gifford back to morning television Monday with the on-air announcement that she will join Hoda Kotb as the co-host of the NBC show’s fourth hour next Monday, April 7.
“She is a morning television icon and is on a short list of personalities known by her first name alone,” “Today” executive producer Jim Bell said in a release. “We are looking forward to her signature warmth and sense of humor in the fourth hour. Her addition to the ‘Today’ family makes us stronger than ever, and she and Hoda will continue the ‘Today’ tradition of smart, topical and fun morning television.”
It was during her 15 years as Regis Philbin’s chatty and often controversial co-host of the syndicated hit, “Live With Regis and Kathie Lee” that Ms. Gifford became a household name and an 11-time Emmy nominee. Ms. Gifford struck out on her own in 2000 and has since written musicals, tended her charitable causes and served a stint as a contributor to “The Insider.”
“I am truly honored to join the ‘Today’ show family, many of whom have been friends and colleagues of mine for years,” Ms. Gifford said in the announcement. “And I’m especially looking forward to working with Hoda, a bright and beautiful woman I admire very much. Together I hope we will bring a fresh and fun perspective to the topics that affect all of our daily lives.”
“Today” spun off the fourth hour of the No. 1 morning franchise in September 2007 with Ms. Kotb joining Ann Curry and Natalie Morales as co-hosts of discussions that revolve around issues considered of particular interest to women, including aging, diet, cooking and shopping and fashion.
Ms. Curry will continue her other “Today” assignments, including co-hosting the third hour with Al Roker and, now, Ms. Morales, who also will remain a national correspondent.

  1. I’m so glad to have Kathey Lee back on morning TV. I love her!

  2. What a sham! When can we get rid once to all of that little scorpion! What a pumpkin head!!

  3. I am so glad Kathy is back… I love her upbeat personality! I wish she would take over for Meredith. Meredith is so boring. She has no personality, a dry sense of humor and no style… She does not compliment Matt, being his co-anchor at all. I would love to see Kathy from the begining of the hour to the end. The show would be so much more enjoyable to watch with Kathy and Matt especially since Katie is gone.

  4. It’s Kathie. Not Kathey, not Kathy. What a bunch of ultramaroons.

  5. I am very happy that Kathie Lee will be back on television and I am a big fan of hers.

  6. I will not watch her ever again, never after her speech at the Emmy’s awards. She has a right to her belief, but to dis-respect christians with this statement it shows very little integrety.

  7. Forget it. Kathey, go fly a kite at the next Emmy awards.

  8. Kathie Lee is awful…Please get rid of her..I cannot believe the Today Show has hired her..

  9. WHERE DO I FIND THE KATHIE LEE AND HODA FEATURE??

  10. What is NBC thinking? Kathie Lee is SO inappropriate. There is no wit to her constant chatter. There can be no serious content as she is always trying to add some comment in attempt at humor. These remarks are rarely ever funny and detract from the content. She has said some horrid things. I have watched her ruin show after show and will can longer view this segment of the show.

  11. I hate it when I happen to flip the channel and find Kathie Lee. Why doesn’t she disappear with her relic, Frank, off to a distant place on a cruise ship. She is a farce and makes you want to puke. She should be changing her husband’s diapers. NBC can’t be that hard up.

  12. Incredibly useful info here. BTW, I think I read a particularly similar article on another blog today, truly i’m pretty sure. I ‘ll check it out and let you know, maybe they copied your content, who knows.
