NBC Heats Up Summer With Reality Originals

NBC plans to air new series and original episodes of its current alternative lineup into rerun season as part of its “All-American Summer.”
NBC Entertainment Co-Chairman Ben Silverman announced the programming initiative Tuesday. The network described the moves as part of its run-up to coverage of the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing in August.
Returning series include “American Gladiators,” which returns Monday, May 12, 8-10 p.m.; “America’s Got Talent,” starting Tuesday, June 24, 9-11 p.m.; “Nashville Star,” starting Monday, June 9, 9:30-11 p.m.; and “Last Comic Standing,” premiering Thursday, May 22, 9:30-11 p.m.
New programs include horror serial “Fear Itself,” debuting Thursday, May 29, 10-11 p.m.; and reality series “Celebrity Circus,” airing Wednesday, June 11, 9-11 p.m., and “The Baby Borrowers,” launching Wednesday, June 25, 8-9 p.m.
“American Gladiators” will settle into its regular Monday 8-9:30 timeslot on May 19. “America’s Got Talent” will follow its premiere with another two-hour episode on Tuesday, July 1 at 9 p.m., with regular hourlong episodes beginning July 8 at 9 p.m. The series will take a brief hiatus during the Summer Olympics, which start Aug. 8, and return Aug. 26 at 8 p.m. EST.
“Celebrity Circus” likewise begins its regular run on Wednesday, June 18, at 9 p.m. “Last Comic Standing” starts on Thursday, May 22, 9:30 p.m., and resumes May 29 at 8:30 p.m.
