MGM Channel Goes Hi-Def in Israel

MGM Networks will broadcast its MGM Channel in high-definition in Israel starting this spring.
The new version will start as part of the HD basic tier of the Israeli DTH platform YES, simulcasting with the standard channel, and will ramp up to 24/7 in the next few months. Both channels will be subtitled in Hebrew and are owned wholly by MGM.
The launch in Israel marks the third new international HD initiative by MGM in 18 months. It’s part of a worldwide expansion drive for MGM Networks in both standard and high definition.
MGM Channels are available in more than 120 countries and nearly 20 languages.
“Alongside our HD channels in the U.S. and in Europe, we plan to continue to aggressively expand our HD presence internationally,” said Bruce Tuchman, executive VP of MGM Networks. “We are also grateful to YES, Israel’s DTH satellite platform, and Tel-Ad, one of Israel’s leading channel providers, for their support and passion about this project, along with their many years of commitment to the MGM standard-definition business.”
