Joe Adalian, one of the leading journalists on the television beat, is joining TelevisionWeek as deputy editor/columnist, covering broadcast TV.
Mr. Adalian joins the staff May 12, in time to bolster TelevisionWeek’s coverage of the broadcast TV upfront advertising season.
Mr. Adalian has covered the TV industry for more than 15 years, breaking innumerable stories. His experience and insight provide the foundation for his more thematic and analytical writings.
At TelevisionWeek, Mr. Adalian will concentrate on producing a weekly column and breaking the biggest stories on the beat. He’ll also blog about the industry.
“Having Joe on the team will make TVWeek a more formidable publication,” TVWeek Editor Greg Baumann said. “I’m confident he will have the competition running to catch up on a regular basis and that his columns and blogs will steer the industry’s conversation about itself.”
Mr. Adalian has spent the last 10 years covering television at Variety, nine of them as TV editor. Before that, he did a five-year turn at the New York Post. He also has written for Playboy, TV Guide and the Boston Herald.
“There are a lot of reporters and editors who cover the TV industry, but few are as skilled as Joe,” said Publisher and Editorial Director Chuck Ross. “He’s a great addition to our staff.”
