NBC Universal has partnered with mobile content delivery company CommerceTel to provide fans of “The Jerry Springer Show” with interactive opportunities, including text message updates and “Springer” ringtones.
“Adding interactive elements to TV shows is a powerful tool that can cement a show’s link to its viewers and generate revenue at the same time,” CommerceTel CEO Dennis Becker said. “It provides a basis for ongoing communication and a platform to launch virtually unlimited interactive campaigns that will yield valuable information about viewers and their interests.”
Fans can dial 1-888-JERRYTV (537-7988) from their mobiles and gain access to ringtones (such as an audience chanting “Jerry! Jerry!”), the “Springer” mobile fan club and text message updates.
“The interface is extremely simple so that any viewer can use it instantly,” said Jonathan Soleymani, NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution director of digital strategy. “We are especially pleased with the platform’s flexibility that enables us to change content and messages quickly, something very useful in the unpredictable environment of ‘The Jerry Springer Show.’”
